About Sarasota Farmers Market
The Sarasota Farmers Market was founded in 1979 by Paul Thorpe and the Downtown Merchants Association. Its original mission was to bring foot traffic to the downtown area.
In 2009, the vendors formed a non-for-profit to further enhance the market with a focus on local farms and growers and also to support local non-for-profits and create educational platforms.
We are proud to provide our community with a connection to local farmers, growers, artisans, and chefs, right in the heart of Downtown Sarasota. Open every Saturday, rain or shine, 52 weeks a year, 7am - 1pm.

Sarasota is in Florida, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Sarasota is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Florida's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Lots of fun. Every vendor we passed was friendly and said hello. Looking forward to going back again. Bought some delicious homemade bread, cheese, perigios, polish sausage, and some pork belly. Didn't even know I liked it but he was giving out samples. Hot outside in the Florida heat but we went first thing this morning to beat the heat and crowds.

I was in Sarasota for a Low Rider Dachshund Rescue event, at the Bazaar on Apricot, and had some time to kill and so glad that I did go to the Farmerโs market as it was great. I got a lot of delicious treats and because Iโll be driving back home today it was hard to get things that wouldnโt keep well in the Florida heat in my car. I would come back again for sure.

Sarasota Farmers Market was such a wonderful experience, and weโre really glad we got to visit it while in town with our close friends. Itโs apparently open year-round, which makes it even more impressive, and it had such a lively, welcoming feel. Our kids had a blast walking our friendโs dog through the market, which honestly added a whole extra layer of fun to the morning. We even picked up treats for the dog from a great pet vendor. There were so many great food options throughout. The empanada truck was delicious, and we also tried pink pineapple for the first time at a fruit stand, which was a fun surprise. We may have also overindulged in some very expensive guacamole and chips from another vendor, but it was absolutely worth itโit was that good. There are so many vendors that we barely scratched the surface. Next time, Iโd definitely go on an empty stomach and plan to try much more. If we lived locally, this would easily become a weekly stop.

Visiting the area for a couple of weeks and last weekend we got confused with their schedule we though it was Sunday. The Sarasota Farmers Market is on Sundays and close at 1pm. We had a great time! They had movement, they had a kids friendly area and bounce house. Overall it was clean and just a beauty of a place. As any other Farmers Market it was a hit!!

Cute farmerโs market with a variety of offerings. Fresh produce, coffee, organic skin care, sea salts, honey, roasted pork belly, awesome smoked barbecue, beautiful plants, โworldโs best guacamoleโ, New Haven style pizza, and more were offered! It was a nice walk in the downtown area to meet and chat with local vendors. If youโre visiting, definitely stop by and support the locals. Would definitely come again next time weโre in town.
